I’ll save the world when I’m a little older
I’ll save some lives, well maybe not today
Stand up and fight when I’m a little bolder
Whatever they may think, I’ll walk my way.
And if I’m not the people’s greatest hero
or maybe public enemy number one,
at least I hope I’ll not end up a zero
and even if, at least I’ll be some fun.
But I will leave a mark, and if it’s tiny
and I will be the spark to light some eyes
and even if you think that I sound whiny
that I made up pathetic little lies
I’ll be the one last firefly that flies.
I’ll share my dreams with all that long for stories
I’ll share my worlds with those that need a home
Spread joy and pain and thrill and fear and glory
and take you to the land within my tome.
And if I’m not the century’s greatest writer
and if I get rejected on and on
I hope I’ll turn at least a few lives brighter
and well, if not, at least I had some fun.
But I will leave a mark, and if it’s tiny
and I will be the spark to light some eyes
and even if you think that I sound whiny
that I made up pathetic little lies
I’ll be the one last firefly that flies.
I’ll be the breeder of a new generation
to save the world if I have failed to do
I do not bother age, or sex, or nation
as long as what I love is born anew.
And if I’m not the history’s greatest mother
and if my genepool’s gone when I am gone
I hope my thoughts will pass on to some other
