Mandola G-String Blues

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.

So I tried to trim and tune it
to the very tiniest bit.
Seven strings did sound like diamonds,
but the G-string sound like… Well, not excactly like diamonds.

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.

So I dialled 1-900-
M-A-N-D-O-L-A
but they said they couldn’t help me,
still they wanted me to pay.

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.

Next, I checked an old grimoire
and I tried a tuning spell:
Seven strings would sound like angels
but the G-String sounds like hell.

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.

Then I summoned up a demon,
he should have my soul and that,
and he smiled and turned my G-string
to an excellent A flat.

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.

And if ever I get buried
I am sure no peace I’ll find
if my stone won’t say: »That G-string
was the last string on her mind.«

There’s eight strings to my mandola,
seven of them sound so clear,
but the first string, that’s a G-string
makes a sound none stands to hear.
